Goodbye Partner (work title) is a playful ‘road-movie’ captured through photography and video by Florian Braakman. For nearly nine years, his Peugeot Partner cargo van was more than just a car. It was a loyal companion, a studio on wheels, a co-pilot on adventures across the continent.

But in his city Rotterdam, new environmental regulations forced them to part ways. Instead, together with his father (once a car mechanic) and his four-wheeled friend, he set out on one journey: a farewell tour and a celebration of their friendship.

Through images and moving sequences, Goodbye Partner playfully documents the rituals of parting. The project touches on themes of mobility, sustainability, and the international trade of cars. It’s a love letter to objects that carry us through life, and a reminder that even machines can leave behind memories.
